Another month, another new record for gaming revenue in Pennsylvania.
According to figures released Monday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the commonwealth generated $432.5 million in gaming revenue in November, the sixth month in 2021 that Pennsylvania has set a gaming revenue record.
The previous record total was $425.9 million, set in October 2021. November’s revenue also was a 52% increase over November 2020.
PGCB communications director Douglas Harbach declined to speculate if December revenue might increase in December with the scheduled Dec. 22 opening of Hollywood Casino Morganton in Berks County.
Year-over-year revenue increased across the board, as Pennsylvania gaming operators continued to recover from the restrictions that limited capacity at brick-and-mortar casinos in 2020.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantville recorded the most revenue in November, bringing in $60.1 million, replacing Parx Casino in Philadelphia, which has consistently generated the most gaming revenue in the state in 2021. Parx fell to third in total revenue with $56.3 million, with Valley Forge Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia second with gaming revenue of $57.1 million.
Slot revenue generated the highest total of all forms of gaming, with $185.5 million compared to the $129.5 million accumulated via slots in November 2020. Parx brought in $31.6 million in slot revenue, with Wind Creek Bethlehem ($22.6) million and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh ($21.1 million) rounding out the top three slot generators.
Pennsylvania igaming revenue was $93.9 million, a slight decrease from the $102.9 million generated in October 2021, but a 57.1% increase compared to November 2020 when igaming revenue was $59.9 million. Hollywood Casino at Penn National generated $37.4 million in igaming revenue, followed by Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $24.2 million, and Valley Forge, $16.5 million.
Revenue from sports betting was $63.7 million, also a monthly record, and is 70% above the previous high month, $37.4 million, of November 2020. The total handle for sports betting, $761.6, was a slight decrease from October’s handle of $776.2 million.
The total handle at Valley Forge Casino Resorts’ sportsbook, run by FanDuel, was $241.9 million, generating $29.2million in revenue.
