Pennsylvania gaming revenue, boosted by a large increase in sports betting, reaches $602 million in March

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Friday reported revenue generated from all forms of gaming in March reached $602.4 million, up 4.9% year-over-year.

Notably, sports wagering revenue saw an increase of 77.1% to $47.8 million this year.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National led Pennsylvania casinos with gaming revenue of $116.3 million, up 8.5 %. Valley Forge Casino Resort brought in $98.8 million, up 14.6%. Parx Casino generated $57.8 million, a year-over-year decrease of 1.7%.

Slot revenue in March decreased 2.8% to $216.2 million this year, with 14 operators across the state suffering losses. Parx Casino brought in $33.6 million in slot revenue, down 2.3%. Wind Creek Bethlehem generated $25.3 million, down 2.%, and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh had $23.8 million, down 3.5%.

Pennsylvania’s igaming revenue was $254.7 million, up 6.9%. Hollywood Casino at Penn National generated $100.8 million, up 11.1%. Valley Forge Casino Resort reported $67.4 million, up 4.1%, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia brought in $40.3 million, up 4.2%.

Valley Forge Casino Resort had the highest sports betting handle in the state, $243.6 million, with revenue of $18.6 million. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands followed with a handle of $211.8 million, yielding revenue of $14.5 million. Hollywood Casino York generated sports betting revenue of $2.6 million from a handle of $64.6 million.
