The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Wednesday voted unanimously to renew the Category 3 resort-casino license of Woodlands Fayette, operator of Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Fayette County. The casino and resort is located approximately 70 miles south of Pittsburgh.
The Board determined that Woodlands Fayette has fulfilled obligations under a previously approved casino operator’s license and qualified for a five-year renewal of its license.
Churchill Downs also announced that it was not renewing a management agreement with Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin and had completed the sale of substantially all assets of the property to Woodlands Fayette. Management of the casino was transferred to self-management, with the assistance of gaming consultant RRC Gaming Management.
The Board made its decision based on input from the operator and the public. A public hearing about the license renewal was held in October 2022. Information from local government officials, community groups, and the Pennsylvania State Police also was considered, as was input from the PGCB’s Office of Enforcement Counsel, Bureau of Investigations and Enforcement, Office of Compulsive and Problem Gaming, and Bureau of Casino Compliance.
Since opening in July 2013 and through May 2023, Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin has generated $2.9 billion in revenue from 600 slot machines and 26 table games, resulting in Pennsylvania tax revenue of approximately $1.3 billion.
Nemacolin Woodlands Resort employs 1,146 workers, including 167 at the casino, and offers 320 guest rooms, dining options, spas, golf, and outdoor-adventure activities.
