HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – A report on the use of casino gambling money in Philadelphia is on hold for a month to develop more information about the effect of a new city assessment system.
The Legislative Budget and Finance Committee had been expected to release the report Tuesday, but it was pulled at the request of the state House member who sponsored the enabling resolution.
An aide to Philadelphia Democratic Rep. Rosita Youngblood says the holdup concerns the city’s new “actual value initiative” approach.
Youngblood said earlier this year she hoped the study would help determine whether wage tax relief or property tax relief was best for city residents.
The study will report how the city is using all revenues from the gambling law earmarked to help governments where casinos are located.
