Ohio casinos and racinos posted a combined $194.3 million in August, a 13% increase over a record-setting 2020.

The state’s four casinos in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo posted $82.5 million in revenue, an increase of 7%. Jack Cleveland surpassed Hollywood Columbus to lead the four casinos with $21.9 million in revenue, closely followed by Hollywood Columbus with $21.1 million, an increase of 20% and 11% respectively.

Strong performances by the other casinos were offset by Hollywood Toledo’s 15% drop in revenue, again the only property to report a year over year drop. The three Detroit casinos one hour away were closed for the first week of August 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making 2020 a tough comparison for Hollywood Toledo.

Ohio’s seven racinos again outpaced casinos to post revenues of $111.9 million, a jump of 18%. MGM’s Northfield Park was again the highest revenue generating property of any type for August with a net win of $23.3 million, an increase of 21% over 2020’s $19.3 million. Eldorado’s Scioto Downs was second with $19.7 million, an increase of 13%.
