Prior to its recent concert in Atlantic City, members of the band Chicago donated $10,000 to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. The group presented the check to Hard Rock Atlantic City President George Goldhoff before a show at Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena.

“Hard Rock Atlantic City is proud to highlight the important work of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and we appreciate the support of the members of Chicago, who have taken the time to understand the importance about the needs in our community,” said Goldhoff in a statement.

The donation comes as Atlantic City prepares for Night of 300,000 Meals April 27 at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s headquarters in Egg Harbor Township. The event will raise funds to supply 300,000 meals to nearly 70,000 food-insecure residents of South Jersey. Funds also will be used for nutrition education, diaper and feminine-hygiene distribution, resource-access outreach, and a College Pantry program.

Night of 300,000 Meals will feature local chefs and restaurants sharing their signature dishes, live music, and other attractions.

The Community FoodBank has a capacity of 1.6 million pounds of food and serves more than 1,000 local families monthly.
