NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) – Developers proposing a Foxwoods casino for the city’s waterfront have met a critical deadline set by gambling regulators.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission confirmed that KG Urban Enterprises submitted the requested documents by Tuesday’s deadline as it seeks to win the state’s third and final resort casino license. Wynn and MGM hold the other two licenses.
The commission said the documents are being reviewed by its staff and will not yet be released publicly.
The New Bedford proposal, which city residents will vote on June 23, will be discussed at the commission’s Thursday meeting.
KG Urban, of New York, is competing with Mass Gaming & Entertainment for a casino license reserved for the state’s southeastern region. Mass Gaming & Entertainment proposes a resort for the fairgrounds in Brockton, Massachusetts.
