Gaming revenue in Missouri in September improved 17.6% over the same period in 2020.
Riverboat casinos in the state generated revenue of $152.1 million, compared to the $129.4 million the casinos reported in 2020. Revenue for September also was 8.% higher than in September 2019.
“The +8.8% result versus September of 2019 was essentially in line with our +8.2% estimate versus September 2019, from our spend per a tracked visitor analysis,” wrote Deutsche Bank analyst Carlo Santarelli in a statement.
Slot revenue for September was $132.2 million, an increase of 18% year-over-year, and 11% higher than 2019. Table game revenue reached $19.8 million, a 14.9% jump from 2020 revenue, but -5% lower than 2019.
The four casinos that comprise the St. Louis market – Hollywood Casino St. Louis, River City Casino & Hotel in Lemay, Lumiere Place Casino & Hotel in St. Louis, and the Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in St. Charles – generated $74.4 million in gaming revenue, a decrease of 0.7% from the previous month, but an 18.1% year-over-year increase.
Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa in Riverside, Harrah’s North Kansas City, Casino KC, and Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kanas City — the Kansas City market — was responsible for $52.9 million in revenue, plus 14.8% over the previous year. The Out State markets — Century Casino Caruthersville, St. Jo Frontier Casino in St. Joseph, Mark Twain Casino in La Grange, the Isle of Capri in Boonville and Century Casino Cape Girardeau – generated $24.6 million, an aggregate increase of 21.2% over 2020.
Ameristar Casino in St. Charles produced the most revenue in September with $23.8 million, up 15.8% year-over-year. River City Casino & Hotel in St. Louis brought in 19.5 million, an 18.7% increase. The Hollywood Casino St. Louis saw a year-over-year jump of 29.8% to $19.4 million.
Outside the St. Louis market, Harrah’s North Kansas City generated the most revenue with $14.9 million, a year-over-year decrease of -1.4%. Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City brought in $14.5 million, a 6.4% increase from 2020, and Century Casino Cape Girardeau lead the Out State markets with $5.9 million, plus 20.2% year-over-year.
