JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Mississippi casino revenues stumbled in October, as gamblers lost less.

State Revenue Department figures released Friday show casinos won $162 million in October, down 3 percent from $166 million in October 2014.

The 11 coastal casinos won $88 million, down 3 percent from last year. River casinos won $74 million, down 2 percent from October 2014. The Natchez Isle of Capri casino closed Oct. 18, cutting river casinos to 16.

October was only the third decline in 15 months for coastal casinos. Revenues have fallen in 35 of 40 months along the river.

Statewide revenue remains up 1 percent over the last year, meaning Mississippi could post a yearly gain for only the second time in eight years.

Numbers exclude Choctaw Indian casinos, which don’t report winnings to the state.
