JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Casino revenue fell in Mississippi in June, as a hot streak at Gulf Coast casinos turned cold.
State Revenue Department figures released last week show gamblers lost $172.6 million statewide in June, down 3 percent from $174 million in June 2017.
Receipts fell to $97.1 million at the 12 coastal casinos, down 4.7 percent from June 2017. Those casinos had seen two months of strong increases in April and May.
Mississippi’s 16 river casinos posted winnings of $75.4 million, up 7.5 percent.
Revenue statewide is down less than 1 percent over the last 12 months, with Gulf Coast casinos showing a 2 percent increase and river casinos showing a 3 percent decrease.
Numbers exclude Choctaw Indian casinos, which don’t report winnings to the state.
