Michigan: Igaming revenue of $127 million half of all gaming revenue in July

The Michigan Gaming Control Board Friday reported July revenue of $254 million from all forms of gambling in the state.

The leading revenue producer was igaming, totaling $126.6 million for the month, up from June’s $121.5 million. BetMGM led operators with $48.0 million in revenue, a 38% share of the market.  DraftKings brought in $25.2 million, a 20% share, and FanDuel generated $18.6 million (15%). BetRivers’ $8.8 million and Caesars’ $6.2 million rounded out the top five.

The handle for online sports betting was $206.1 million, with revenue of $14.0 million. FanDuel led in both handle with $60.1 million and revenue, $7.7 million. BetMGM, despite having the third largest handle of $44.6 million, had the second highest revenue of $5.6 million. DraftKings reported a handle of $58.1 million, with revenue of $4.7 million.

For the month, online operators contributed $24.1 million in taxes to the state, $6.4 million to the city of Detroit, and $2.7 million to tribal operators.

Announced August 9, revenue from the state’s three Detroit casinos reached $107 million, down 8.4% compared with 2021. MGM Grand Detroit topped the list with $51.2 million, a market share of 48%, but a year over year decrease of 4.7%. MotorCity Casino Hotel generated $34.8 million, a 9.6% decrease from July 2021, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown reported revenue of $19.9 million, a year over year decrease of 15%.
