Governor Gretchen Whitmer recently reappointed Mark Evenson to the Michigan Gaming Control Board through December 31, 2030.

Evenson of South Lyon serves as Chief Financial Officer of Diversified Members Credit Union. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer at Cornerstone Community Financial and has served on the board of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and as Vice Chair of the Novi Educational Foundation Board.

“We are pleased that Mark will continue on the board for another term,” Michigan Gaming Control Board Executive Director Henry Williams said in a statement. “His financial expertise and deep commitment to public service make him an invaluable asset to our work. We look forward to continuing to benefit from his leadership and counsel as we carry out the mission to ensure fair and honest gaming across Michigan.”

The MGCB implements, administers and enforces the provisions of the law related to the licensure, regulation, and operations of the three authorized Detroit casinos — MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown. The agency also licenses and regulates igaming, internet sports betting, and fantasy contests; oversees pari-mutuel horse racing and casino-style charitable gaming; and audits tribal gaming compact agreements for the state’s 12 federally recognized tribes.

The board is comprised of five Michigan residents appointed by the governor, with one member designated by the governor as the Chair. Under the Michigan Gaming Control & Revenue Act, no more than three members may belong to the same political party.

Three board members are required to be in attendance and present at meetings in order to form a quorum to conduct regular business.

Initially appointed by Whitmer in September 2024, Evenson will continue to serve with board members Deidre Lambert-Bounds, Andrew T. Palms, Joni M. Thrower Davis, and Chair Jim Ananich.

Evenson’s reappointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate.
