MGM Resorts International and its online sports betting operator BetMGM announced a new commitment Tuesday to help players make responsible gambling decisions.

The joint effort comes as both of the MGM properties have joined the National Council on Problem Gambling to promote Problem Gambling Awareness Month in March.

BetMGM and MGM Resorts employees will participate in a weekly educational series provided by EPIC Risk that provides unique and diverse perspectives on responsible gaming, and insight into preventing problem gambling.

“MGM Resorts has a long and storied history of supporting responsible gaming efforts and we are proud to support the NCPG’s efforts in addressing problem gambling,” said Stephen Martino, senior vice president and chief compliance officer for MGM Resorts, in a statement.

BetMGM will emphasize education and outreach as part of the player experience through customer service initiatives. MGM team members will be instructed on how to assist guests who are at risk of problem gambling, and how they can get help.

BetMGM is also promoting Gambling Disorder Screening Day, led by Harvard Medical School faculty at the Division on Addiction, Cambridge Health Alliance. The event provides resources including an online screening toolkit to help individuals recognize behaviors that may lead to an increased risk of problem gambling.

Additional responsible gaming resources and tools will be available through the BetMGM app.
