ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) – A subsidiary of MGM Resorts International has filed a proposal for a casino at National Harbor.
MGM National Harbor filed the proposal on Thursday with the State of Maryland Video Lottery Facility Commission.
The proposed casino would be built on more than 20 acres of land at National Harbor by the Potomac River in Prince George’s County. It would be just south of Washington near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.
MGM executives say it would create thousands of construction and permanent jobs.
The submittal of the proposal is the first step in the application process. MGM will make an oral presentation about the proposed facility later this summer.
MGM has indicated it wants to build a luxurious and architecturally unimposing casino at the site, not a garish or flamboyant building.
