Mass. governor backs plan to regulate fantasy sports

November 23, 2015 · 4:58pm ET | 1:58pm PT

BOSTON (AP) – Massachusetts’ governor says he thinks fantasy sports regulations recommended by the state’s attorney general are on the mark.

Gov. Charlie Baker told reporters he spoke with Attorney General Maura Healey Monday about her recommendations.

Healey’s plan would allow daily fantasy sports companies like FanDuel and Boston-based DraftKings to continue operating in Massachusetts, but with age and advertising restrictions, disclosure requirements and other new rules.

Healey last week unveiled what she called the aggressive, first-in-the-nation plan to regulate the websites after her office spent several weeks reviewing whether the contests were legal in the state.

Baker said Monday that he looks forward to reviewing public comments on Healey’s plan over the next 60 days or so, but that he thinks “she covered the bases in a pretty significant and appropriate way.”
