The AGEM Index edged up slightly up in March, improving by 12.33 points to 764.13 points, a 1.6% gain over February. During the month, the share prices of eight of the companies represented by the Index dropped, with five moving positively.
The Index’s monthly growth was driven primarily by a 13.1% increase in the stock price of Aristocrat Leisure Limited, which rose from $30.36 to $34.35 and contributed 35.77 points to the Index. The other significant contributor was Crane Co., which added 12.21 points due to a 12% stock price gain from $83.86 to $93.91.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 outperformed the AGEM Index, posting monthly gains of 6.6% and 4.2%, respectively, while the AGEM beat the NASDAQ, which grew by only 0.4%.
