LOS ANGELES (AP) — A man who followed players home from Southern California casinos and robbed them has been sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison.

Dominick Roberson of Paramount was sentenced Wednesday.

Prosecutors say Roberson was an aspiring professional poker player who last year followed home five people from the Hawaiian Gardens and Hollywood Park casinos, robbing them of some $12,000.

Authorities say after one robbery, Roberson returned to a casino to gamble with the money he’d stolen.

He was convicted in October of four counts of second-degree robbery and one count of attempted robbery.
