Maine’s casinos recorded revenue of $13.8 million in April, up 7.2% from the previous year.

Figures released by the Maine Gambling Control Unit showed Oxford Casino in Oxford generated $8.5 million in April, 62% of the total, while Hollywood Casino in Bangor generated $5.2 million.

Last April, the casinos combined for revenue of $12.87 million. The year-over-year revenue increase is 6.7% for Hollywood Casino and 8.2% for Oxford Casino. Slots gaming made the biggest contribution to the revenue this April, generating $12.02 million, up 7.5 percent, while table games contributed $1.83 million, up 8.4%.

Maine state law gives the state’s four federally recognized tribes the exclusive rights to mobile sports betting and the right to offer high-stakes bingo gaming. However, that could change soon, with lawmakers voting in favor of LD 1164 earlier in May to allow the Wabanaki Nations to operate online gambling in Maine.
