Online casinos dominate the regulated Ontario market. In Q2 (through Sept. 30, 2023), casino games (slots, live and computer-based tables games, and peer-to-peer bingo) accounted for almost $11.9 billion (84 percent) of total wagers and 75 percent ($407 million) of gaming revenue.

The market isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, with 47 operators licensed and others still in the license application queue with the provincial regulator.

LuckyCasino is the latest operator to join the crowded Ontario market. Operated by the Glitnor Group, it will be the first time the LuckyCasino brand has been offered to Canadian customers. They’re already well established in the regulated Swedish market.

Glitnor Group is looking to get its business-to-customer and business-to-business brands in as many regulated markets around the world as possible. The company acquired a 37.5 percent stake in PlayStar in July 2023.

“As a collective, Glitnor is always looking for new ways to expand our business by entering new regulated markets worldwide – and the Ontario launch of LuckyCasino will certainly create a number of exciting strategic opportunities for us going forward,” said David Schwieler, Head of Brands and Business, in a statement.

“Not only will LuckyCasino be able to build on the phenomenal success and recognition that it’s already achieved in Sweden but having the brand available in Ontario will soon allow us to distribute titles from our leading B2B brand, Swintt, within the market. As such, the expansion will open new possibilities for our company in future.”
