Louisiana: Slight drop in August gaming revenue continues 7-month skid

Gaming revenue in Louisiana continued to drop, however imperceptibly, in August.

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board Thursday posted gaming revenue in August of $179.0 million, a year-over-year decrease of -0.2%. August marks the seventh month in a row that gaming revenue has fallen compared to the same time periods in 2022.

The LGCB’s report includes gaming revenue from riverboat casinos and Harrah’s New Orleans, the state’s lone commercial land-based casino.

The Lake Charles district led Louisiana properties with gaming revenue with $70.5 million, a year-over-year increase of 5.9%. Golden Nugget Lake Charles generated revenue of $26.7 million, followed by L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles with $23.7 million. Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel posted revenue of $12.7 million and Horseshoe Lake Charles reported revenue of $7.4 million.

Revenue from the Shreveport/Bossier district dropped -3.1% year-over-year to $43.5 million. Margaritaville Resort Casino brought in $15.2 million, Horseshoe Bossier City reported $10.4 million, and Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel generated $7.8 million.

Revenue from properties in the New Orleans district also decreased, with the total of $39.4 a -7.4% drop from August 2022. Harrah’s New Orleans generated revenue of $18.0 million, followed by Boomtown Casino & Hotel with $8.8 million, and Treasure Chest Casino with $6.8 million.

Baton Rouge casinos were responsible for $19.7 million in revenue, an almost negligible decrease of -0.2% year-over-year. L’Auberge Casino Hotel led the district with $14.6 million, Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge posted $3.8 million, and the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino Hotel,generated $1.2 million.

Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in St. Landry Parish generated revenue of $6.0 million, a year-over-year increase of 5.2%.
