The Louisiana Gaming Control Board posted Thursday the state’s gaming revenue for January fell to $163.1 million, a 15.5% decrease compared to the $193.0 million generated in January 2023. Every Louisiana gaming district except Baton Rouge, which had a 2.3% increase, saw revenue decline.
Online sports betting revenue, however, jumped 67.0% year-over-year to $49.5 million on a handle of $318 million. Retail sports betting revenue reached $3.2 million with a handle of $28.5 million.
Lake Charles district properties generated gaming revenue of $60.0 million, a year-over-year decrease of 21.5%, from the $76.4 million posted in January 2023. Golden Nugget Lake Charles led Lake Charles properties with $22.8 million in gaming revenue, with L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles generating $20.4 million. Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel posted revenue of $11.1 million, and Horseshoe Lake Charles generated $5.6 million.
The Shreveport/Bossier district properties generated $37.1 million, down 23.4% from the $48.4 million accrued in January 2023. Margaritaville Resort Casino had revenue of $12.6 million, Horseshoe Bossier City reported $9.1 million in revenue, and Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel generated $6.6 million.
New Orleans district operators reported revenue of $40.2 million, a decline of 5.6% compared to the $42.6 posted in January 2022. Harrah’s New Orleans generated revenue of $18.7 million, with Boomtown Casino & Hotel posting $9.4 million, and Treasure Chest Casino with $6.4 million.
The Baton Rouge district’s slight increase resulted in revenue of $20.3 million compared to January 2023’s $19.8 million. L’Auberge Casino Hotel led the district with $13.6 million, the Queen of Baton Rouge generated $6.1 million, and The Belle of Baton Rouge reported revenue of $0.6 million.
Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in St. Landry Parish generated $5.5 million in revenue compared to the $5.7 million posted in January 2023, a decrease of 2.5%.
