Louisiana: Gaming revenue reaches $194.6 million in February, 1% year-over-year increase

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board Tuesday reported that February gaming revenue was $194.6 million, a 1.0% year-over-year increase, and a 19.3% increase compared to February 2023. Every gaming district in the Bayou State saw revenue increases compared to the same time period in 2023 except for Lake Charles, which had a decline of 4.5%, and Evangeline Racetrack and Casino in St. Landry Parish, which had a slight decline of 1.1%.

Online sports betting revenue reached $30.4 million, a robust year-over-year increase of 39% from a $253 million handle (an increase of 44% compared to February 2023). Retail sports betting generated revenue of $0.8 million from a $21.7 million handle.

Despite the year-over-year decline, Lake Charles properties led all Louisiana districts with $69.8 million in gaming revenue. Golden Nugget Lake Charles’ $24.8 million slightly edged out L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles, which generated $24.6 million. Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel posted revenue of $14.1 million, and Horseshoe Lake Charles brought in $6.3 million.

Shreveport/Bossier district properties generated revenue of $48.1 million, a 1.1% increase compared to February 2023. Margaritaville Resort Casino posted revenue of $16.7 million, Horseshoe Bossier City reported $10.5 million in revenue, and Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel generated $9.4 million.

New Orleans district operators reported revenue of $47.7 million, a year-over-year increase of 4.4% compared to the $45.7 posted in February 2023. Harrah’s New Orleans generated revenue of $23.8 million, Boomtown Casino & Hotel brought in $10.7 million, and Treasure Chest Casino had revenue of $6.9 million.

The Baton Rouge district had the highest year-over-year increase of 10.7%, posting revenue of $22.8 million compared to February 2023’s $20.6 million. L’Auberge Casino Hotel led the district with $14.9 million, the Queen of Baton Rouge generated $7.3 million and the Belle of Baton Rouge reported revenue of $0.6 million.

Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in St. Landry Parish generated $6.1 million in revenue compared to the $6.2 million posted in January 2023, a decrease of  1.1%.
