The Louisiana Gaming Control Board reported revenue of $193 million in January, a year-over-year increase of 4.8%. The state’s riverboat casinos and Harrah’s New Orleans, the state’s only commercial land-based casino, generated $188.2 million in January 2022.
Sports betting generated revenue of $35.7 million on a handle of $282 million, while online sports betting was responsible for revenue of $29.7 million from a $245 million handle. Retail sports betting revenue was $6 million with a handle of $37 million.
Lake Charles properties led all Louisiana districts with $76.4 million in revenue, a 12.3 percent gain over the previous year’s $68.1 million. L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles had revenue of $27.9 million, followed by Golden Nugget Lake Charles ($25.7 million), Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel ($12.9 million) and Horseshoe Lake Charles, formerly Isle of Capri Lake Charles ($10 million).
The Shreveport/Bossier region produced $48.4 million in gaming revenue in January, with Margaritaville Resort Casino generating $16.9 million, followed by Horseshoe Bossier City ($12.1 million) and Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel ($9.5 million).
Revenue from New Orleans casinos decreased 2.9 percent, from $43.9 million in January 2022 to $42.6 million this year. Harrah’s New Orleans led the way with $20.1 million, followed by Boomtown Casino & Hotel ($9.7 million) and Treasure Chest Casino ($6.9 million).
Properties in the Baton Rouge District brought in $19.8 million in gaming revenue, a year-over-year decrease of 10.6 percent from January 2022’s $22.2 million. L’Auberge Casino Hotel generated $15.1 million, followed by Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge ($3.7 million) and Belle of Baton Rouge Casino Hotel ($1.1 million).
Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in St. Landry Parish generated revenue of $5.7 million, a year-over-year increase of 0.8 percent.
