Light & Wonder will unveil the next phase of its transformation at the Global Gaming Expo this week in Las Vegas.

The former Scientific Games, a cross-platform global game company, comes into this year’s G2E with a new name, brand identity, and vision.

At G2E, the company will unveil its cutting-edge systems, technology, products, and award-winning content, bringing to life its portfolio for the benefit of customers, operators, and players.

L&W interim CEO and Group Chief Executive of Gaming Matt Wilson said the company is focused on building great games that the world wants to play across multiple platforms – spanning land-based casinos and online and mobile, in both real-money and free-to-play social-gaming markets.

“By developing game experiences loved by players and operators around the globe, we continue to deliver on our vision to become the leading cross-platform global-game company,” Wilson said. “Our momentum is demonstrated by our great games and cabinets topping the charts across the board, the growth and performance of our igaming portfolio, and the exclusive new content launching across the U.S.”

At its G2E booth (#1116), L&W will feature updates to hit game franchises, new electronic gaming machines, table games, electronic table games, hardware, casino-management systems, a dedicated cross-platform gaming area, an igaming area, exclusive content and more. L&W will debut LIVE DEALER by AuthenticGaming, a live-casino experience.

“We have a story to tell,” Wilson said during a company preview of G2E. “As we went into the show last year, we were a very different company. We were Scientific Games, a very diversified business across all of these different areas, from lottery to sports betting, social casino to igaming and land-based.”

The Light & Wonder at G2E is “radically transformed,” Wilson added. “We sold off lottery and sports and paid down our debt, so now we’re in a position as an organization to invest in the future. We put R&D first.”

What’s left in the portfolio is a company focused on building great games and technology, Wilson said.

“Games are at the center of our universe. We have three distinct businesses that all fit together. Land-based gaming is about building great slots and technology. The social-casino business for slot play is all about building great technology for our B to C business and the igaming business, which has been around for a decade in Europe and having a lot of success in early innings in North America. It’s about building great content and technology. The paths of our business now really fits together. A dollar of investment in R&D can quickly be transported to the land-based business, igaming, and social casino.”

Wilson said that the company’s goal is to be number one in everything it does and build the best games and best technology in every category. He added that no company in the industry has a collection of assets like L&W. The social-casino business allows them to launch games quickly, then test them to make them successful. They have the leading platform in igaming and a huge presence in every regulated global gaming market.

Throughout 2023, digital products will move closer to land-based counterparts. During the first quarter of 2023, L&W will release its first wide-area-progressive product.

L&W said attendees will see how it’s leveraging proprietary brands and content across its portfolio. This includes its latest cross-platform game, Gold Fish Feeding Time; Huff N’ More Puff slot machine (its top core game); the Kascada Dual Screen slot cabinet (the number-one multi-screen upright for three months running); and Landmark 7000 Wheel (the number-one mechanical-reel hardware for two months running).
