The Las Vegas airport set an all-time April record for passengers just as the state of Nevada set an all-time April high for gaming revenue.

Harry Reid International Airport handled 4.88 million passengers in April, bolstered by an increasing number of international passengers. The April total exceeded the previous April record set in 2023 of 4.8 million passengers. That’s a 1.5% increase. For the year, the airport has handled 18.6 million passengers, 1.6% higher than the first four months of 2023.

International passengers have made a difference, with 322,013 going through the airport in April, a 17.1% increase over the 274,927 in April 2023. For the year, the 1.19 million international passengers are 23.6% higher than the 970,269 during the first four months of 2023.

Southwest Airlines led the way in April, handling 1.84 million passengers, an 11.3% increase over the 1.65 million in April 2023. Canadian airline Westjet took top honors for international passengers at 77,337, a 35% increase over the 57,108 a year ago.

The strength in air travel offsets the daily traffic between southern California and Las Vegas that fell 10% in April compared to April 2023.
