The Plaza Hotel & Casino in Downtown Las Vegas Wednesday introduced Sue Ascanio as its new general manager. Ascanio, who has 30 years of experience in the gaming industry, was most recently the CEO and general manager of River Rock Entertainment Authority in Alexander Valley, California.
“Sue is a proven leader who has experience with all aspects of managing a hotel/casino, including the design and construction of large-scale improvement projects and motivating a strong leadership team and staff,” said Plaza Hotel & Casino CEO Jonathan Jossel in a statement. “Most importantly, Sue shares my commitment to enhancing the guest and team member experience. I am confident that she will motivate our team and lead operations that will ensure the Plaza remains a top-tier destination in downtown Las Vegas.”
Ascanio started in the gaming and hospitality industry in Las Vegas, working first with Harrah’s Entertainment and then with Station Casinos, where she served as director of operations, director of food and beverage, and vice president/general manager at three properties. Ascanio also has served in executive roles with Pinnacle Entertainment and Penn National Gaming in Indiana.
Ascanio is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel administration.
