The Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma announces the grand opening of the Kickapoo Trading Company on Thursday, September 8 at 11 a.m.
The new store is located inside the Kickapoo Travel Plaza at 25200 East Highway 62 in Harrah, just west of the Kickapoo Casino Harrah. The store will offer unique Native American designed by Native owned companies, as well as items created by Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma Tribal Members.
The store is located next to Kickapoo Casino Harrah, where many patrons utilize the Kickapoo Travel Plaza for their convenient store needs. Patrons will now enjoy another aspect of Kickapoo Tribe with the brand-new store.
“The idea of Kickapoo Trading Company is to provide our tribal and local community with a resource for cultural items, as well as economic opportunity. Kickapoo Trading Company gives our tribal members a place to commission their traditional handmade items, which in turn serves as a ‘one-stop shop’ for when cultural items are in need,” said Darwin Kaskaske, Chairman of the Tribe. “This new venture brings the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma one step closer to being self-sufficient by diversifying the tribe’s business portfolio.”
A ribbon cutting event is scheduled for Thursday, September 8 at 11 a.m. to mark the occasion. The public is welcome to attend.
