Prairie Meadows Casino and Hotel said Monday that it had given a record-breaking amount in charitable donations to the central Iowa community during 2018. The property released its 2018 Annual Report, Growing Our Impact, on March 18, which covered the organization’s community giving, partnership with Polk County, net revenues, operating expenses, board members, and grant recipient stories.

“Prairie Meadows fulfills its mission by giving back to organizations that support arts and culture, education, economic development, and human services,” Prairie Meadows Director of Community relations Julie Stewart said in a statement. “We are excited to share the growing impact Prairie Meadows has on our state.”

Prairie Meadows began operations in 1989 with the goal of promoting economic development, jobs, agriculture, and tourism in the state of Iowa. The casino resort offers nearly 1,700 slot machines, table games, live and simulcast racing, hotel accommodations, and entertainment options.

The nonprofit Prairie Meadows organization strives to promote economic development, jobs, agriculture, and tourism in the state of Iowa. Since 1996 Prairie Meadows has given more than $1.79 billion to that state of Iowa; $790 million of that has stayed in Polk County.
