According to figures released by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, Iowa casinos raked in $157.4 million in gaming revenue in July, an increase of 31% over July 2020’s $120.4 million.
Statewide, slot revenue increased 30% to $142.7 million. Table game revenue increased 35% to $14.7 million from 2020’s $10.9 million.
Sports betting reached a handle of $88.9 million with online contributing $77.9 million of that, or 88% of overall handle. Overall, the casinos net $7.1 million in sports betting receipts for July, compared with $2.2 million in 2020, a statistic hampered by lack of games to bet on and an in-person registration requirement for online betting.
Foot traffic increased 43% to 1.67 million over 2020’s 1.17 million.
The state’s top three gaming revenue earners were Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino with $20.6 million, Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs with $18.4 million, and Ameristar II with $16.1 million posting 23%, 30%, and 21% gains respectively.
