Iowa casinos reported adjusted gross gaming revenue of $149.5 million in May, up 0.5% from$148.8 million in May 2024.
According to a report published by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, slot machines in Iowa’s 19 licensed casinos generated $135.6 million in revenue in May, up 0.4% from the $135.1 million a year ago, while table game revenue in May totaled $13.9 million, up 1.5% from the $13.7 million a year ago.
Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino continued to lead the revenue list with $21.5 million last month, followed by Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs at $15.4 million, Ameristar Council Bluffs at $14.5 million. Riverside Casino & Golf Resort at $10.8 million and Rhythm City Casino at $10.2 million.
Iowa’s sports-betting handle climbed 11% year-over-year to $202.6 million in May, the first time that monthly wagers have topped the $200 million mark in the Hawkeye State.
Casinos contributed $28.6 million in state gaming taxes in May, $1.1 million to the state’s endowment fund, $700,000 to city and county governments, and $300,00 to the state’s miscellaneous gaming fund.
