Iowa casino adjusted gross revenue fell 1.8% year-over-year in April, dropping to $141.1 million from $143.8 million.
According to the state’s report, Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino generated the most adjusted gross revenue in April of the state’s 19 casinos at $19.5 million, a fall of 1.9% year-over-year. Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs added $15.4 million to the state-wide total, a drop of about 0.3%.
The only other casinos to add more than $10 million to the statewide total were Ameristar II, with $14.1 million, and Riverside Casino and Golf Resort, with $10 million in adjusted gross revenue. That Ameristar II figure was a fall of more than 7% year-over-year, while Riverside Casino and Golf Resort also posted revenues 7.5% lower than the year prior.
A few casinos saw revenues increase year-over-year, with Wild Rose Jefferson’s numbers rising by 7.6%, and Isle of Capri Bettendorf increased its revenues by 5.4%. Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo boosted its revenues marginally, adding 2.4% compared to April 2024.
The most significant riser was Catfish Bend, where revenues increased by more than 16% year-on-year.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission report shows a continuing trend of underperformance for land-based casinos in 2025, with casino revenues also dropping about 5% in March.
