There is no question that jumbo slot cabinets are now the norm. Here is a listing of the latest large-format styles currently in the field, listed in alphabetical order by manufacturer.

Orion 49 Curve

The Orion Curve cabinet highlights 4K graphics on a 49-inch curved portrait-style monitor. AGS recently debuted an Orion Curve Premium platform, which is designed for 4-pods and 5-pods of Orion Curve games, merchandised with a 360-degree video display and theme-specific illuminated wedge spacers.

“We launched it as a core cabinet in the for-sale category,” said Mark DeDeaux, senior vice president of slots for AGS. “We also packaged that with some of the LED merchandising, the round HALO signs. Rakin’ Bacon! Deluxe was the first game that we launched on that merchandising package, and I think that really is something that stands out in terms of a larger form factor tied to some elaborate merchandising to really make it stand out on a floor.”

A-STAR Curve XL

Ainsworth super-sized its popular A-STAR Curve with this version, a new premium cabinet featuring a 55-inch, 4K curved infinity monitor, a 27-inch, high-definition topper, a state-of-the-art LCD button deck, and the same dynamic LED lighting and LED touch-screen button deck that distinguished the A-STAR Curve.

“The new premium cabinet debuted in late 2021 with the Take It or Leave It game series,” noted Mike Trask, vice president, product marketing and communications for Ainsworth. “Our goal was to provide a premium player experience, but to ensure the games could still be placed on standard slot bases.”

Cinema

Previewed at the Global Gaming Expo in October, Cinema is Aristocrat’s follow-up to the Neptune Canopy, which places two Neptune cabinets-the phenom cabinet that stacks two 49-inch monitors across from each other, their giant displays forming a canopy over players’ heads-with an even more impressive display. This one features an 86-inch 4K HD monitor, positioned using the same ergonomic easy-view engineering as the Neptune.

“Cinema is our latest large-format cabinet that will reinvigorate the jumbo video segment this year,” proclaimed Jon Hanlin, senior vice president of commercial strategy and business analytics for Aristocrat. “The 86-inch monitor is viewable from an ergonomic bench that allows players to stay and play great content comfortably. We previewed Cinema at G2E last year, and the customer response was fantastic.”

Big Mech

When Andrew Burke took over as CEO of Bluberi early in 2020, he tapped the same source that provided the popular “Big Red” cabinet for his former company, AGS-industry legend Steve Weiss and his bZillions game studio-for Bluberi’s new oversized cabinet. Called Big Mech, it is a giant mechanical reel-spinning cabinet that actually is a hybrid-there’s a 65-inch video monitor on top of the mechanical reels.

What really stands out about this cabinet is that it is a see-through affair that gives the player a peek inside the mechanism. “We put LCD screens directly behind the reels,” explained Christian Smith, Bluberi’s senior director of product management. “Each reel is an open spot. Each time the spot lands on the payline, that’s when the LCD kicks in. It was really designed to surprise the players, so they see something exciting and see something new as they play the game.”

IMPACT 49

Eclipse Gaming Systems’ premium IMPACT 49 slot platform launches this quarter exclusively for Class II tribal gaming markets. The IMPACT 49 is the newest addition to Eclipse’s IMPACT cabinet family, which also includes the proven IMPACT 43 portrait platform. It features sleek lines, a 49-inch 4K floating portrait display, dynamic LED lighting, and a library of entertaining game content.

“The IMPACT 49 is a striking attraction designed to maximize floor performance,” said Brennan Lawrence, chief business officer for Eclipse Gaming Systems. “The cabinet’s vivid and expansive 49-inch 4K floating portrait multi-touch display is designed to showcase engaging new 4K game content that delivers an elevated and engaging player experience. Dynamic LED lighting and enhanced audio immerse players in a cinematic gaming experience engineered to keep them entertained.”

Vert-X Grand

The Vert-X Grand features an ultra-bright, 4K 49-inch portrait monitor, theater-quality sound, an ultra-bright LCD button deck, programmable LED play buttons, and attention-grabbing LED side lights. Launched with the unique wheel game Let’s Spin, it will soon be home to another unique game group called the Pub Series.

“We took great care to design a cabinet that was sleek and modern as well as comfortable and ergonomically correct for our players,” said Jean Venneman, chief commercial officer for Gaming Arts. “With the 49-inch ultra-high-definition 4K monitor, theater-quality sound, side lights all the way to the floor and eye-catching pod packages, we feel we have a beautifully designed cabinet and bank package that will stand out on any casino floor.”

 width=IGT

Peak65

IGT crowned its Peak cabinet family-which already included the PeakBarTop, PeakSlant49, PeakSlant32, and Dynasty Peak Terminal-with the Peak65, centered on an imposing 65-inch 4K LCD display that enhances the gaming experience by immersing players into the game.

“The 65-inch screen was selected because it’s the sweet spot in terms of max configuring and merchandising flexibility and it looks great in casinos as singles, doubles and pods,” shared Cindy Hovey, senior director of hardware roadmap for IGT. “The key to designing a cabinet with a 65-inch display is ensuring that the screen is at the optimum distance and angle for the player-not too close to overwhelm them or require rapid head movements, but close enough to achieve the immersive experience that IGT is aiming for.”

KONAMI GAMING, INC.

DIMENSION 75C

Konami’s newest large-format cabinet is DIMENSION 75C-also the newest premium cabinet in the supplier’s award-winning DIMENSION line. DIMENSION 75C consists of one jumbo monitor, curved from top to bottom in a slight “C” shape. It has a spacious slant-top with dual jumbo spin buttons, dual cup holders, and dual wireless phone chargers.

“The machine is designed to leverage many of the same proven hardware elements found across all DIMENSION cabinets,” said Molly Condron, director, product management for Konami, “including sloped foot rest, multi-color edge lighting effects, sheen silver finish, and more.”

SCIENTIFIC GAMES

Mural

Launched last spring, the Mural features dual stacked 55-inch 4K curved monitors-that’s 110 inches of game real estate, the most in the business-in a presentation that rises 11 feet. The Mural includes all the state-of-the-art features-the touchscreen-enabled iDeck button panel, the embedded wireless charger, and a next-generation Salem processor offering game designers unprecedented horsepower.

“We’re really proud of the Mural,” enthused Nathan Drane, senior vice president of product management for Scientific Games. “It’s got great floor presence. As you see in the [Eilers-Fantini report], it is performing well with the game Willy Wonka, Dreamer of Dreams. The benefit of this format is that you can take your biggest brands, either proprietary or licensed, and bring them to the biggest stage. We look at that canvas, and we look at all the things a designer can do with that cabinet, and we think it really lends itself to expanded game design.”
