Foxwoods to relax COVID-19 protocols, but masks still required

Foxwoods Resorts Casino announced Thursday that most COVID-19 protocols put in place due to the pandemic will be lifted, with one exception: customers will still have to wear masks while on the property.

“With the exception of face masks, all protocols will be lifted by or before May 19, aligning with Connecticut’s plans,” said President and CEO of Foxwoods Resort Casino Jason Guyot in a statement. “We will closely monitor our approach but are ready to introduce a safe and more relaxed ‘next normal’ environment for our guests and team members ahead of summer.”

While masks will be mandatory, all slot machines will be available for play. Capacity limitations at table games, restaurants, and other sites on the property will eventually be lifted.

Other measures, including continuous advanced cleaning of high-touch areas and social distancing where appropriate, will remain in place.

Guyot said Foxwoods consulted with Mashantucket Pequot Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Setu Vora, before releasing the plan.

Earlier this year Foxwoods hosted a vaccination site in partnership with Hartford Healthcare. Over 35,000 Connecticut residents were vaccinated at the site, and approximately 70% of Foxwoods’ team members have been vaccinated.
