The Nevada Gaming Control Board has paved the way for Kambi Group, a B2B provider of sports betting services, to enter the state where it already has a deal in place for a field test with Bally’s Lake Tahoe.

Kambi, which is headquartered in Malta and is publicly traded in Sweden, provides a software platform with front end user interface, odds compiling, customer intelligence and risk management. After Wednesday’s recommendation of approval from the Gaming Control Board, the Nevada Gaming Commission will have the final say as Kambi continues its expansion in the U.S. It currently operates in 15 states and Ontario, Canada.

Kambi attorney Greg Giordano with the law firm McDonald Carano Wilson, told the Board that the hearing represented a years-long effort by the Kambi to enter the Nevada sports wagering market.

Anders Strom, Kambi’s board chairman who co-founded the company in 2010, said it acquired its first U.S. licenses in 2018 in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

“We are excited about bringing our services to the state of Nevada,” CEO Werner Becher said.

Becher said the company has built “best–in-class” sports betting products that adapt to the wide variety of local regulations and compliance requirements. Their sports betting platform has allowed them to launch with more than 45 partners in more than 60 regulated areas in the world. Kambi works with brick-and-mortar casinos and online-only operators and with both private and state operators.

“Our big global networks means we have unique data to guide our product development and be ahead of the game when it comes to the likes of in-play betting, same-game parlays and AI trading,” Becher said.

Erik Logdberg, Kambi sportsbook manager, said the company partners with many tribes, Rush Street Interactive, Penn Entertainment, and Parx Casino, and that the Kambi network is the biggest retail sportsbook in many U.S. states.

“That’s a bridge of why we are here today – an opportunity to see what we can achieve with our services in Nevada,” Logdberg said. “We see Nevada as a great business development opportunity for us given the success we’ve had in other U.S. states. We think we can bring something new and better to sports betting users and operators in Nevada.”

By partnering with Bally’s in Nevada, it adds a “quality stamp” to show the standards it achieves with technology, Logdberg said. The company didn’t say whether it will partner with Bally’s when it rebuilds on the former Tropicana Las Vegas casino site. The Lake Tahoe test is expected to launch by July.
