A new app launched Tuesday makes it easier to address and learn about issues related to responsible gaming.
The app, Gamble Responsibly America, is backed by the non-profit Entain Foundation U.S. and features easily accessible information and assets to help gamblers make better decisions.
“We are incredibly proud to be launching the Gamble Responsibly America application as our commitment to responsible betting and gaming is unmatched within the industry, said Entain Senior Vice President for American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling Martin Lycka in a statement. “Through this first-of-its-kind app, we are determined to continue helping individuals by providing the resources and programs necessary to ensure everyone is betting and gaming responsibly.”
The app was produced with EPIC Risk Management and RG24/7, partners to the Entain Foundation U.S. on educational projects. Free in the Apple Store and Google Play Store, the app includes numerous educational tools and links to resources and is available in English and Spanish.
Features include:
- A self-assessment quiz: A quick self-assessment to gauge if playing habits should be modified or adjusted.
- A gambling diary: Individuals can take notes, and track their gaming and betting decisions, in order to make decisions about their investments and tendencies.
- Behavioral callouts: Users learn about potentially harmful behaviors or markers of concern, including, frequency of play, failed deposits, and multiple payment methods.
- A comprehensive list of additional information and assistance, including videos on the importance of responsible gambling.
- A 24/7 live chat feature is available to connect individuals with helpline specialists connected to the National Council on Problem Gambling’s live chatline.
Before the launch of the app, Entain announced a series of partnerships and programs, including a player education initiative with EPIC Risk Management about sports betting with U.S. pro sports leagues and colleges; a cross-border responsible gambling tool with PlayPause; and a five-year research program with the Division on Addiction at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital, to better understand problematic and addictive behaviors.
The Entain Foundation U.S. is funded by BetMGM co-parent Entain, a global sports betting and gaming operator. BetMGM will provide information and links to the app on its responsible gaming web pages.
