As one of the company’s first 15 employees, Stephanie Sherman watched DraftKings grow from a daily fantasy company run out of co-founder Paul Liberman’s house to a multibillion-dollar fantasy sports and sports betting company.

DraftKings Tuesday announced that Sherman has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer, a designation that will consolidate all marketing functions under her leadership.

“Since our early days as an insurgent daily fantasy business, Stephanie has been a driving force of our growth and contributed hugely to DraftKings becoming a household name and a global, multi-product digital entertainment company enjoyed by millions of consumers,” said DraftKings North America Co-founder and President Matt Kalish in a statement. “Stephanie’s consistently strong performance has earned the respect of the entire DraftKings team and she is recognized as one of our industry’s most dynamic marketing minds.”

Named one of the “Most Powerful Women in Sports” for the last two years by trade publication Adweek, Sherman’s previously served as DraftKings’ Senior Vice President of Marketing. During her tenure, Sherman has focused on customer acquisition and direct response marketing and has helped guide the company as it expanded into daily fantasy, sports betting, online casino, and digital collectibles.

Sherman will continue to guide and scale marketing efforts in her new role while overseeing brand and agency campaigns, media buying, and influencer strategy.

“When I started at DraftKings nine years ago, there was a genuine and collective sense that we were building something special, and zooming out to today, that has been validated more than I could have ever imagined,” said Sherman in a statement. “For all the accomplishments we’ve celebrated and adversity we’ve overcome, I take on this new position knowing there is still so much opportunity ahead along with brilliant people ready to deliver.”

Sherman previously managed acquisition marketing for Vistaprint, where DraftKings’ co-founders Kalish, Liberman and Jason Robins were employed.
