The accounting survey on the Casino of St Vincent has been completed, and according to the investigators, the Region “has been cheated and depleted” to the tune of €140 million.
The notifications were delivered to 22 people, including 21 councillors and former regional councillors, cited by the Court of Auditors for the financing of €140 million of public funds donated by the Region to the gambling house.
The Regional Public Prosecutor of the Court of Auditors has sued the 21 members of the Board and the Regional Council as well as the Coordinator of the Finance Department of the region over administrative liability.
In addition, it has charged them with tax damages of approximately €140 million.
On the criminal front, the investigations, conducted by the economic-financial police of the Guard of Finance of Aosta, have also led to 8 suspects being investigated by the Public Prosecutor of Aosta for various crimes including fraud and false accounting.
