CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – West Virginia lottery officials say the state’s contract for a new video lottery system is finalized.
The Charleston Gazette-Mail (http://bit.ly/1MW59RT ) reports acting lottery director John Myers said Tuesday that the state’s $8.7 million contract with Scientific Games Corp. is for a central computer system that will monitor and control more than 14,000 video lottery machines operating in West Virginia. It will also control and monitor the more than 7,000 video lottery machines in the state’s four racetrack casinos and at The Greenbrier resort’s casino.
The contract will replace the lottery’s current outdated system, which uses dial-up phone connections to relay data to and from the central computer. Myers says the new system will use up-to-date IP cellular connections that are faster and more reliable.
Myers says the new system won’t be fully implemented until 2018.
