TYRE, N.Y. (AP) – A recently licensed casino in the Finger Lakes is marking a milestone in its construction.

Developers of the Lago Resort & Casino are holding a ceremony Friday in Tyre to celebrate the start of steel beam construction at the site. Participants will sign their names on one of Lago’s beams.

The state Gaming Commission last month approved licenses for Lago and two other casinos in upstate New York. Also being developed are the Montreign Resort Casino in the Sullivan County town of Thompson and the Rivers Casino & Resort at Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady.

Lago, which is off the Thruway between Rochester and Syracuse, expects to open in early 2017.
