Canadian singer-songwriter Roch Voisine has been around awhile, but he no doubt holds a special place in the heart of Claude Martin after what happened over the weekend at Casino de Montréal: Martin won the largest progressive jackpot in the casino’s history, $3,056,175, playing 3 Card Poker.

Where does Voisine fit in? Martin was at the casino last weekend with his spouse to attend the Voisine show at the Cabaret du Casino. They got there early in order to have dinner at Le Montréal. With a little extra time to kill before the show started, Martin and his wife headed into the casino, where Martin wanted to play some 3 Card Poker.

After a few hands, Martin was dealt flopped a royal flush in spades to take down the entire inter-casino progressive jackpot.

Martin is a construction worker who lives in Lanaudière, QC. He’s in his early 60s and said he has no intention to retire, even with $3 million-plus in his jeans.

However he does plan to slow down a little. He told people at the casino he will buy the car of his dreams and, perhaps, a lakeside cottage. He’ll also be back to see another Roch Voisine show, since he missed the performance he and his wife were there to sees.

The inter-casino progressive jackpot is available to 3 Card Poker and Ultimate Texas Hold ’em players at all four Loto-Québec casinos. To be eligible to win it, players must make a $5 side bet. The progressive gradually increases with every bet placed until the jackpot is won.

The other Loto-Québec casinos are Casino de Charlevoix, Casino du Lac-Leamy, and Casino de Mont-Tremblant.
