Casino giant Caesars Entertainment, which has begun building non-gaming Caesars-branded hotels in Dubai and Mexico, is bringing the concept to the U.S.
The company announced a deal Monday to bring the Caesars name to Scottsdale, Arizona, saying in a statement that it would open Caesars Republic Scottsdale in the community outside Phoenix.
Neither an opening date nor financial figures were disclosed.
The 11-story glass structure hotel with 266 rooms will be near the Scottsdale Fashion Square and will be built by HCW Development and operated by Aimbridge Hospitality.
Caesars Entertainment will license its brand, advise on design elements and integrate the property into the company’s Total Rewards loyalty network.
Caesars has nearly 40 casino and resort properties in 13 states under the Caesars, Harrah’s, Horseshoe and Bally’s brands. In Arizona, Caesars operates the Harrah’s Ak-Chin casino and hotel for the Ak-Chin Indian Community. The property is in south Phoenix.
The move into non-gaming concepts is part of the company’s plan to expand its brands and loyalty network through a licensing strategy.
Caesars CEO Mark Frissora said the hotel in Scottsdale is part of the company’s “strategy to expand our non-gaming business into premier destinations.”
In a statement, the company said Caesars Republic will be a brand designed exclusively for non-gaming hotels that will be taken to other U.S. markets.
Last year, Caesars opened two beachfront resorts and beach club on Meraas’ Bluewaters Island in Dubai. Caesars also has announced plans to develop a non-gaming Caesars Palace resort along the coast of Puerto Los Cabos, Mexico.
The Scottsdale property will include meeting space, conference and event space, including a 7,000-square-foot ballroom. The property’s signature restaurant will have outdoor seating on a patio with views of Camelback Mountain. Caesars Republic Scottsdale will also have a rooftop pool and bar, the only such facility in Scottsdale.
Scottsdale hosted an estimated 4.5 million overnight visitors and 4.4 million day-trip visitors in 2017. Caesars Republic Scottsdale will be located just north of Scottsdale Fashion Square.
