The Village Board has passed a resolution calling for the proposed $360 million Hard Rock casino complex in Kenosha to be rejected unless an agreement is reached granting Somers some of the revenue.
The federal Bureau of Indian Affairs is currently in its final review of the proposed casino complex for Kenosha. A timeline for a decision remains unclear.
Once the bureau makes its determination, it will be forwarded to Gov. Tony Evers, who has the final say on the application and ultimately whether the Kenosha casino can be developed.
Under the proposal, the Menominee would own the casino and its related facilities, and Hard Rock International would serve as developer and manager of the site just west of Interstate 94 on about 60 acres of land.
