Nebraska’s first racetrack casino is poised to open later this month in Lincoln.
The temporary WarHorse Casino set up in the horse racing simulcast building at Lincoln Race Course will have 433 slot machines. It won’t have table games, though, as officials say there isn’t enough room.
Another thing it won’t have is sports betting. The gambling ballot measures that gained overwhelming support from Nebraska voters in November 2020 not only authorized casinos in the state, they also opened the door to betting on sporting events.
And when the Legislature in spring 2021 established the framework for casino gambling in the state, the law included provisions for sports betting.
