Gambling on the Big Game is big business. From picking a winner to timing how long the national anthem will take, people can wager on almost anything with the Super Bowl. It’s obviously not the only sporting event that garner bets, but its certainly the most culturally-relevant sporting event in America, making this the perfect time of year to look into the state of gambling in the state of Alabama.
Gambling in most forms is still illegal in Alabama thanks to the state constitution which bars lotteries. Since Section 65 of the Alabama Constitution was added in 1901, it’s long since been interpreted as an overall ban on gambling:
