Ohio has put an emergency halt to betting on University of Alabama baseball due to suspicious wagering activity on the team’s game Friday against LSU.
In a notice to the state’s sports gambling licensees obtained by FTW, Ohio Casino Control Commission executive director Matthew T. Schuler ordered that the acceptance of any wagers on Alabama baseball be prohibited “effective immediately.” Any wagers placed on incomplete events that have been suspended must be voided.
It may sound strange that Ohio, of all places, is suspending bets on Alabama baseball, because what does one thing have to do with the other? The states aren’t even close. But there’s actually a pretty simple explanation that has nothing to do with region.
