Washington, D.C.: Lottery sports betting handle up, revenue down in January

The DC Lottery released its latest figures for sports betting in the United States capital. Compared to the last months of 2022, January had the biggest sports betting handle. It was also the most prosperous month in terms of players’ winnings.

With its monthly high of nearly $8.8 million, handle in January 2023 was also higher compared to the same month the year prior. In January 2022, the amount wagered equaled $ 5,7 million.

The Lottery’s GambetDC also revealed fiscal year-to-date numbers. The year-to-date total amount played was $29,294,801, with $25.9 million won and 917,796 bets placed. Although the sports betting handle was up in January, the revenue was down. In fact, January 2022 revenue ($952,918.39) was higher than January 2023 (862,722.53).
