The Pamunkey Indian Tribe is exercising an option in its casino development contract with Norfolk that allows the tribe to delay the purchase of land next to Harbor Park by a year until January 2025.
This is the second and final time the tribe will be able to delay the purchase under the contract. Though it does not mean the project will be delayed by another full year, it extends the window for project plans to be completed and approved.
The tribe and Golden Eagle Consulting II, a company helping back the HeadWaters Resort and Casino project, informed the city in a Sept. 26 letter of their intention to use the extension.
