The fate of Roanoke’s aging Berglund Center didn’t become much clearer during a city council discussion about the property Monday night.
But, city officials again beat the drum on the message that something needs to be done with the facility, which faces more than $30 million in deferred maintenance. Whether it will be the future home of a casino or not, the city is at “critical mass” with the Berglund Center, City Manager Valmarie Turner said.
“I’m not trying to start a scare, but I certainly want you all to understand that we are at a critical point with the Berglund Center,” Turner said.
