Virginia will not pass legislation on online casino gaming this year, as a bill to legalize online casinos was pushed from 2025 to 2026.

SB 827 would have allowed the state to regulate operators that provide real money slots, table games, and poker online.

The Senate subcommittee on gaming agreed to further analysis of the bill and to reconsider it in 2026, after a motion to that effect was advanced by Senator Mamie Locke.

The proposed bill would have allowed a potential 15 online casinos to operate in Virginia. Each of the state’s five land-based casinos would have been allowed to partner with up to three brands.
