The U.S. House of Representatives has passed legislation requiring hotels to display the full price of stays online and in advertising, including resort fees.
The Hotel Fees Transparency Act, approved Monday, now goes to the Senate for consideration before potentially reaching President Donald Trump’s desk. The House passed the bill late Monday by voice vote.
Rep. Dina Titus, D-Las Vegas, whose district includes the Las Vegas Strip, supports price transparency initiatives.
“The Hotel Fees Transparency Act is commonsense legislation that provides consistency and clarity for consumers across all booking platforms,” Titus wrote in a statement to the Sun. “During this critical time for the hospitality industry, we need to do everything we can to encourage tourism.”
